Like an old piece of tarnished brass
on the wooden sill of dreams,
my spirit lingers upon the dusty shelf,
memorable times of the past.
Yet on sunny days shadows fade
as they should into the light,
they hide behind the tarnished brass,
cowering in fear of being noticed.
Fear of being seen by the human eye
as in its true form, soulless,
dead from the dark hidden and dull,
with but one touch back to life.
This is the reality of the shadow
behind the brass upon the wooden sill,
time will tell if it finds the light,
deciding to stay and enjoy the warmth.
