Is this life worth it?
wake up to an alarm clock,
taking a shower,
eating your toast, drinking your juice,
on your merry way
to a tedious 9 to 5 prison.
The walls of our lives
are constantly under attack
by the mundane facts of life,
reading the newspaper,
paying the bills,
to keep a roof over your head.
Breathe the freshest air of life
so we won't lay down
to die empty of a courageous soul,
among the shattered dreams
of a tarnished white picket fence existence.
Yet we carry on wayward son
into a realization so brilliant of society
It doesn't take a rocket scientist
to figure out the answers,
we are but tiny dancers on the world's stage.
Privileged to be alive
on God's wondrous earth,
so vast and wide as the blue clouded skies.
We are as humanity driven,
to taste the sweetest gift of all creation,
this thing called life. . . .Timothy Michael DiVito c2020
