“What Love Used To Be”

Something is gone on the grayest of days,
a spark in the dark air, no longer there.
Just the sweet memories of loving ways.
when the moonlight caressed your silky hair.

As in days of old things so romantic,
escape in the shadows of night somehow.
Searching glimpses of broken love so frantic,
days of emotions no longer allowed.

Such warm moments as these used to be seized,
now hiding in the blackness of my mind.
Where as before they opened on my knees,
praying you would not leave my heart behind.

For my romantic prayers were not answered,
I stand by myself, the lonely dancer. . .
