“A Lasting Impression”

Walking outside finds a welcome
of a new proportion.
As I put on my shades
darkness covers my eyes,
but not my very human soul.

But I can still witness wonders,
a new born baby crying,
a bird in flight,
a sunrise to love by,
a love to live by.

The darkness of any kind
cannot block out true beauty.
Humanity's indelible mark
is burned upon our lives,
it is present, shades or not.

The Taj Mahal, Sistine Chapel,
the pyramids of Giza,
Seven hills of Rome. a Renoir,
A Monet, a truly beautiful woman,
all have left impressions on our souls.
