“The Window”

As I gaze out the window
I wonder where my dreams,
I dreamed have gone,
on the far distant journey
away from my reality,

or are they hiding
behind the shattered glass,
of a broken window
I stared out as a curious child,
a child of the 60's a nd 70's.

We thought we would live forever,
now that the end is near
accomplishments not achieved,
as the window closes,
due to shredded broken aspirations.

Whichever the case may be,
the belief in who I am,
jagged by a shard of glass,
still gleaming as I smile
peering out the window of life.
