These egregious times we live in,
when blood pours
like a river from an open wound,
where trust is a barren land,
humanity is the desert
with our parched lips we thirst for apathy.
Yet what we receive is a dark hand
across our very souls,
leaving us to believe hope is a fading light.
Is there hope, a beacon in the sky,
as stars shine brilliantly
so should our humanity for society.
For we are the last true bastion
of a wayward mankind,
that wondered in a barren ancient desert,
searching for the meaning of existence,
learning to taste bitterness
to discover the sweetness of human life.
Hopefully a fierce rage of rain
drowns our empathy,
so we can surface as a complete race.
