“There’s No Place Like Home”

Somewhere over the rainbow
can be found,
when you click your heels together.

Like when you were a child,
petting your dog Toto
for the first time was exciting.

But somewhere along the way
the emerald city,
became a burned out shell fast.

The ruby red slippers got tarnished
in the poppy field of life,
compassion was replaced by an emoji.

Embraces are needed in mankind,
when a tornado
whisks you away to a Kansas farm.

Or do we need to communicate
to get the flying monkeys,
and wicked witch off of our backs.

Stop the killing on the yellow brick road,
maybe then, Kansas
will be fine, ruby red slippers or not.
