“A Ghost Of Love”

When you see me
I am a flesh and blood human,
or a ghost upon the night.
disappearing in the bright sunlight.

In the dark
do I blend like a shadow,
never actually noticed unless your soul is open
to let the light of hope shine through.

I just want to know, am I real
to you in some small way like concrete
surrounding your soul and heart,
not a porous brick wall tears pouring in like rain.

See me, just love me
so I don't disappear on the wind,
never to be heard of again like a bad memory,
then again, our love is so memorable

Occasionally the ghost in me
haunts the halls of my once lucid, clear mind,
just wandering aimlessly about
searching for a genuine intimate embrace of heaven.

I know I will not receive it when I am dead.
