“After The Smoke Clears”

As I stand alone
in the black of night
against my enemies,

I shall stand lonely,
back against the wall
head held high,

to touch the face of God
I shall not be defeated,
as the fire burns brightly.

The courage to survive
is in my fiber as a human being,
to fight the good fight,

against all odds in the world,
chaos is what I thrive on
taking the good with the bad.

Charging into the darkest hours,
finding the hope to breathe,
as the oxygen is on fire in the mystic night.

As the smoke clears
I am still standing, sword in hand,
with no blood stain upon it.

Maybe it was kill or be killed,
but to hold out your hand to hatred
is the answer to it’s contempt for life’s truth,

and surely not the final death blow
upon the neck of ignorance,
there’s enough blood shed in the world.

It’s time to show true mercy
where none was shown to us,
or we will bleed forever.
